SCHOLARSHIP

You are interested in a career in the music industry.
You identify as Black, African, African American, Multiracial, or Multiethnic.
You are approved to work in the U.S. We don’t sponsor.
You are a high school senior, in college, or a recent college or continuing education graduate.
You have GPA above 2.5. It is preferred but not required.
You are available for online classes with Berklee College of Music in Summer 2023. This is a 12-week course that will be from May 30 - August 20, 2023, or June 26 - September 17, 2023.

We provide three pathways, and applicants may only select one pathway to apply to. Choose the pathway that best aligns with your interests and goals in the music industry.
Music Creative and Production
This path is for individuals involved in music creation and production, including roles such as In-House or Freelance Composer, Creative Director, Sound Designer, or Audio Engineer. Applicants in this path must reside in New York City / New Jersey or Los Angeles. Recipients in this pathway will receive:
- Free admission to an online Music Production course offered by Berklee College of Music (Estimated Value: $1,500 - $2,500)
- Music Production Kit, including a laptop, a professional digital audio workstation (DAW) such as Logic or Ableton, sound sample library, keyboard controller, and audio interface (Estimated Value: $4,500)
- Resume review by the AMP D&I Committee
- Possible internship opportunity in the music industry based on availability
Music Supervision Path
This path focuses on individuals involved in overseeing the musical process, including roles such as Music Supervisor, Music Coordinator, Sync Licensing Manager, A&R, In-House Creative Producer, or Project Manager. Recipients in this pathway will receive:
- Free admission to an online Music Production course offered by Berklee College of Music (Estimated Value: $1,500 - $2,500)
- Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) (Estimated Value: $200)
- Resume review by the AMP D&I Committee
- Possible internship opportunity in the music industry dependening on availability
Music Business Path
This pathway is for individuals engaged in music administration and management roles, such as an Executive or Associate Project Manager, Production Coordinator, Business Affairs Manager, Human Resources, Accounting Manager, Marketing Director, Salesperson, or Client Relations. Recipients in this pathway will receive:
- Free admission to an online Music Production course offered by Berklee College of Music (Estimated Value: $1,500 - $2,500)
- Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) (Estimated Value: $200)
- Resume review by the AMP D&I Committee
- Possible internship opportunity in the music industry dependending on availability

Written Application
The application varies depending on the track you select.
Letter of Recommendation
You will need to provide a recommendation from a teacher, professor, manager, colleague, or mentor.
Unofficial Transcript
You will need to provide your most recent, digital transcript. If you are unable to provide a transcript, please explain in your application.
Acceptance Letter / Registration
You will need to provide an acceptance letter or registration to a college or trade school. If you don’t plan to attend college or trade school, please explain in your application.

You can choose one of the three following pathways below. Your work will be used for application review purposes only and will not be released without your permission. We look forward to reviewing your application.
Music Creative and Production
Submit the following:
1. A 90-second video explaining how this scholarship would support your future in the music industry.
2. An original piece of music, arrangement, or remix between 30 seconds and 2 minutes. You will be evaluated on content, not recording quality.
Music Supervision
Submit the following:
1. A 300-word essay discussing a song or piece of music featured in an advertisement, show, or movie that resonated with you and explain why.
2. A 90-second video describing an existing song that inspires you and why it has a significant impact on you.
Music Business
Submit two of the following:
1. A 300-word essay demonstrating your passion and curiosity for music.
2. A 300-word essay highlighting your favorite personal accomplishments (can be related to music or something else).
3. A 300-word essay discussing a song or piece of music featured in an advertisement, show, or movie that deeply resonated with you and explain why.
4. A 300-word essay analyzing your favorite TikTok song and why you believe it became viral.
We've recently partnered with Save The Music, a nonprofit renowned for delivering equitable access to music education for millions of students nationwide. Together, we’ve raised over $26,000.
We are excited to launch our inaugural AMP x Save the Music Scholarship. The scholarship will welcome a few talented, underrepresented students to the advertising music industry. The students will intern at an AMP member company and receive music production equipment and music courses at Berklee.
